DEEN Fest Brings Mississauga Together in Celebration of Belonging

The northwest parking lot of Sheridan Centre was alive with laughter, cheers, and vibrant energy yesterday as families, neighbours, and community partners gathered for the return of DEEN Fest, hosted by DEEN Support Services.

The annual gathering proved once again that true community is not merely an event on a calendar, but an intentional space where individuals of all abilities share the same joy, dignity, and sense of belonging.

From the opening hours, the grounds filled quickly with attendees drawn in by festive treats, lively activities, and an atmosphere built around accessibility and shared celebration.

Highlights from the Day

• High-Spirited Wheelchair Races: Spectators lined the track, cheering on participants in one of the most energetic and anticipated highlights of the afternoon.
• Hands-On Fun with Mississauga Fire: Firefighters welcomed excited children aboard their fire engine throughout the afternoon, giving young attendees an up-close, interactive look at the equipment.
• Endless Ice Cream & Treats: Free popcorn and an ever-popular ice cream truck kept lines moving and spirits high across the grounds.
• Community Connection: Families connected with local service providers, shared experiences, and enjoyed accessible outdoor spaces designed to welcome everyone.
