Scarborough's Muslims show support for  'Love, Scarborough' campaign

Scarborough’s large Muslim community has been a strong supporter of its local hospitals and its ‘Love, Scarborough’ campaign and celebrated $86,000 in donations collected in 2021 at a Family Day event on February 21.

In 2018, the Muslim community pledged to give $1 million to Scarborough Health Network (SHN) within 10 years.

“Around 30 mosques and Muslim organizations, supported by local politicians and other community leaders, were involved in collecting a total of $350,000 since the 2018 pledge was made,” said Muneeb Nasir, a member of the Scarborough Muslim Fundraising Committee.

“Funds have been raised through appeals and fundraising events in local mosques and during the Family Day program as well as through personal contributions of Scarborough residents,” he said.
