In a move that has sent shockwaves through Canada’s Muslim community, the federal government has officially dissolved the Office of the Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia. The position, held by Amira Elghawaby since January 2023, is being folded into a newly created Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion.
