Building Our Own Lens: Why the Muslim Media Hub Matters
The Muslim Media Hub (MMH) is reclaiming the narrative, ensuring that when the world looks at our community, it sees the "depth, dignity, and truth" we know to be our reality.
For decades, the story of Muslims in Canada has often been told by others.
Whether in the nightly news or on the silver screen, our community has frequently been viewed through a narrow lens—one that often prioritizes stereotypes over substance.
But a shift is happening in the heart of Mississauga.
The Muslim Media Hub (MMH) is reclaiming the narrative, ensuring that when the world looks at our community, it sees the "depth, dignity, and truth" we know to be our reality.
From Idea to Screen

Located at 27 Pearl Street in Mississauga, the Muslim Media Hub is more than just an office; it is a vibrant incubator for the next generation of storytellers.
The space is equipped with professional TV and podcast studios, editing suites, and community rooms designed to turn a spark of an idea into a broadcast-ready production.
The mission is simple: to equip Muslim creatives with the tools, training, and support they need to tell their own stories.
In a world where media shapes public policy and social attitudes, "owning the story" is not just a creative luxury—it is a community necessity.
The Hub grew out of the foundation laid by Let the Quran Speak, a show led by Dr. Shabir Ally and Dr. Safiyyah Ally that has transformed public conversations about Islam for over twenty years.
Building on that legacy of optimism and respect for diversity, the MMH serves as a non-profit creative home for filmmakers, journalists, and digital creators who want to challenge harmful narratives.
The Power of Truth in Storytelling

The work of the Hub is deeply rooted in an ethical commitment to truth and clarity.
In an age of misinformation, the responsibility of the storyteller is sacred. This is reflected in the guidance we find in the Qur’an:
"Believers, be mindful of God, speak in a direct fashion and to good purpose." (33:70)
By providing a space for direct and truthful speech, the MMH is helping to foster a Canadian Muslim identity that is authentic and unapologetic.
Their projects, such as the Everyday Muslim Heroes documentary series, highlight the extraordinary impact of ordinary people—advocates, founders, and leaders who are driving social change in sectors ranging from environmental sustainability to disability rights.
These are the stories that rarely make the mainstream headlines, but they are the stories that define us.
Building Muslim Power in Media: The 2026 Gala

The community is invited to celebrate this progress and look toward the future at the upcoming Muslim Media Hub Gala & Fundraiser.
The event, themed "Building Muslim Power in Media," is a cornerstone moment for the organization and its supporters.
- Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
- Time: 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM
- Location: Sagan Banquet Hall and Convention Centre, 7180 Edwards Blvd, Mississauga, ON
- Highlights: The evening will feature the premiere of newest productions, exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at how these stories are made, and a delicious dinner with entertainment.
This gala is not just a fundraiser; it is a showcase of what is possible when a community invests in its own voices.
Attendees will be the first to hear exciting announcements for the year ahead and learn how their support can help the Hub reach its next stage of growth.
Importantly, the organizers have ensured the event is accessible, providing complimentary childcare and sign language interpretation.
Why Your Presence Matters
As a non-profit organization, the Muslim Media Hub relies on the collective support of the community to keep its studios open and its training programs—like the Short Film Lab and Pocket Films for youth—accessible.
When we support institutions like the MMH, we are investing in a sustainable "storytelling ecosystem."
We are ensuring that our youth see themselves reflected positively on screen and that our elders see their legacies preserved with care.
In the fast-paced world of digital media, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the noise.
However, by supporting a centralized "hub" of creativity, we can ensure our voices are not just heard, but that they resonate.
Whether you are a creative looking for a space to film your next project or a community member who wants to see better representation in the media, the gala on February 7 is the place to be.
Let us come together to support the people who are working every day to ensure our stories are told with the dignity they deserve.
