A Season of Doubled Blessings: Supporting Scarborough’s Health This Ramadan

A Season of Doubled Blessings: Supporting Scarborough’s Health This Ramadan

Ramadan is a time of deep spiritual reflection, heightened devotion, and a profound renewal of our commitment to those around us.

For many of us, this month is defined by the spirit of Sadaqah—the voluntary act of giving that reminds us that our true wealth is found in what we share with others.

This year, that spirit of generosity has been met with an extraordinary opportunity.

In a powerful display of communal solidarity, ICNA Relief Canada has announced it will match all donations up to $200,000 in support of the Scarborough Health Network (SHN).

For every member of our community, this means that for the duration of this holy month, your impact has effectively doubled.

A gift of $100 becomes $200; a contribution of $1,000 becomes $2,000.

It is a rare moment where our collective efforts are magnified, bringing us closer to a goal that will benefit every resident of Scarborough for generations to come.

A Million-Dollar Milestone within Reach

The Scarborough Muslim Community (SMC) has a long and proud history of standing alongside our local hospitals.

We understand that a community is only as strong as the care it provides to its most vulnerable members.

To date, the SMC has already raised over $800,000 in pledged commitments toward our ambitious $1 million goal for the SHN Foundation.

This progress is not just a number on a balance sheet; it represents the heartbeat of our community.

It represents the seniors who receive life-saving cardiac care, the mothers delivering babies in modern facilities, and the families who find comfort in knowing that world-class healthcare is available right here in their own backyard.

With the $200,000 matching grant from ICNA Relief Canada, we have the chance to cross the finish line of our $1 million commitment this Ramadan.

It is a call to action that reflects the very essence of our faith.

The Spiritual Significance of Giving

Ramadan is the season where these "multiple increases" are most felt.

When we designate the SHN Foundation as our charity of choice for Sadaqah and Ramadan giving, we are investing in "God's cause" by caring for His creation.

Providing the tools for doctors to heal and nurses to comfort is an act of worship that resonates far beyond the walls of the hospital.

Why Scarborough Health Network Matters

Scarborough is one of the most diverse and vibrant regions in Canada, yet our healthcare infrastructure has often faced challenges in keeping pace with our growth.

The SHN Foundation works tirelessly to ensure that our hospitals—General, Centenary, and Birchmount—have the equipment and facilities necessary to deliver compassionate care.

By supporting this campaign, you are helping to fund:

  • Life-saving medical equipment that stays in our community.
  • Facility upgrades to ensure patients are treated in environments that promote dignity and healing.
  • Emergency care enhancements to reduce wait times and improve outcomes for our neighbours.

Join the Movement

We invite every family, every business owner, and every individual to join the Scarborough Muslim Community in this final push.

This is our moment to show that when we unite, we can overcome any obstacle and meet any goal.
