OBAT Canada: making your donations go further for international relief

OBAT Canada is a different charity because almost all the money it receives goes directly to helping needy people overseas.

They don't spend much money on office buildings or a lot of paid workers.

OBAT Canada's goal is to assist people who are poor and without homes so they can live with dignity and become independent.

They aim to give people the power to improve their lives by teaching them skills and providing education.

The charity also believes in using money carefully, being honest, and always trying to do the best job possible.

OBAT Canada helps in several ways.

They provide medicine and health care for people who are sick. They also help children attend school and learn.

Another important service is helping people get clean water and better sanitation. They also give people necessities for living.

For children who don't have parents, they have special support programs.

They even help refugees, like the Rohingya people, who have been forced to leave their countries.

OBAT Canada also helps people donate money for religious reasons, such as Zakat and Qurbani, to those who need it most.

One of the special things about OBAT Canada is that many of the people who work for them are volunteers.

This means they don't get paid, so more money can be used to help people. They also have a rule that says 100% of the money donated by the public goes straight to their programs.

The small amount of money needed to run the charity is given by a separate group of donors who want to ensure the charity is run well. This way, when you donate money, you can be sure it will be used to help someone.

According to OBAT Canada, "We don’t do expensive fundraising events -no glossy printouts, no booking glitzy high end venues, no honorariums for VIP speakers, no event sponsorships, no kickbacks to social media influencers."

"We eliminate costs wherever we can.  We don’t need an office because our work is done virtually, and we get the word out by using social media and word of mouth."

Consider Dr. Abul Kashem. He grew up in a camp in Bangladesh.

OBAT Canada helped him get an education, and he became the first doctor from the camps. This shows how important education can be!

OBAT Canada also helps people who have problems with their eyesight by providing surgeries to help them see again.

They also build wells so people can have clean water.

And they teach women how to sew so they can earn money for their families. So far, they have helped over a million people!

OBAT Canada is also open about how it uses their money.

They have online reports showing where the money comes from and how it is spent. In 2023, they received over a million dollars, and almost all of it was used to help people.

Only a very small amount was used for things like office costs. This shows they manage their money carefully.

If you want to support OBAT Canada, you can donate money through their website.  You can also volunteer your time if you have skills that could be helpful.

Every bit of help allows them to continue improving the lives of people who need it most.
