Muslim Groups Pledge $250,000 towards Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation

On November 25, 2025, the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation were honoured to host Friends Indeed Canada as well as members from the Pickering Islamic Centre and local business owners of Iqbal Foods Ajax.

Friends Indeed Canada have generously agreed to a $250,000 five-year pledge towards Lakeridge Health’s Healthy Aging Program, and even raised over $30,000 at just one event last month!

Healthy aging is not just about your physical health; it also includes maintaining your mental, and social well-being as you get older to preserve your functional ability and quality of life. 

It is an ongoing process that includes optimizing opportunities for health and independence through choices like eating well, staying active, and nurturing social connections.

Including the 320 residents of Lakeridge Gardens Long-Term Care Home, at any given time, Lakeridge Health is caring for over five hundred seniors. 

And all our staff are committed to promoting safe, dignified, and person-centred care regardless of if you live at home and come to us for outpatient treatment, or are admitted temporarily to one of our hospitals so we can manage your complex and non-urgent medical care needs as you transition to your next stage of care, or you now call Lakeridge Gardens home.

Friends Indeed Canada and their supporters know how important it is for individuals and families to always feel like a valid part of the community, no matter which stage of life you are in.

In recognition of their generous support, we unveiled two plaqued benches in front of Lakeridge Gardens. 

These seats are lovingly used by residents, friends and family throughout the year, as both places to gather together and as places to find a moment of peace.
