Muneeb Nasir awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal

Muneeb Nasir, a prominent Muslim leader and interreligious advocate, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his significant contributions to fostering understanding and cooperation among diverse religious communities in Canada.

Nasir's nomination came from the Canadian Interfaith Conversation, a national organization representing 62 faith communities and faith-based organizations.

"Your outstanding service in fostering respect and understanding of religious traditions in Canada has made a significant contribution to the positive role faith communities make in Canadian civil society," Canadian Interfaith Conversation Co-Chairs Peter Noteboom and Shaila Kibria-Carter wrote in the award presentation letter.

"To be nominated by the Canadian Interfaith Conversation is a great honour, matched by the privilege of receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal," said Muneeb Nasir. "Thank you for this deeply meaningful recognition. Fostering dialogue, empathy, and collaboration across our communities is paramount at this time."

Nasir's commitment to interfaith dialogue is evident in his roles as Co-Chair of the National Muslim Christian Liaison Committee and his service on the Toronto Steering Committee of the Parliament of the World's Religions.

He also founded the Olive Tree Foundation, a public foundation dedicated to supporting various causes, including disability rights, environmental protection, interfaith initiatives, and anti-racism efforts.

In addition, Nasir has led numerous projects that have brought faith communities together to sponsor refugee families and support local food banks.

Through his leadership and initiatives, Nasir has played a crucial role in creating a more inclusive and harmonious society in Canada, inspiring countless individuals to embrace peace and compassion.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal was created to commemorate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023. The medal recognizes individuals across Canada who have made significant contributions to the country or to a particular province, territory, region, or community.
