Following a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit parts of Turkey and Syria last Monday, many Muslim communities in Canada are gearing up to offer assistance to those affected by the natural disaster.

The Turkish consul general in Vancouver, Taylan Tokmak, has reported that rescue efforts are already underway, and he has received calls from across Canada from those offering to help in any way they can.

Tokmak has specifically requested cold weather survival gear and other related items to be sent to Turkey to assist with the ongoing relief efforts.

Fortunately, he reports that all Canadian provinces have stepped up to offer these necessary supplies, and he and his team are working diligently to coordinate shipments and transport the cargo as soon as possible.

In addition to sending physical supplies, Tokmak emphasizes the importance of monetary donations to the Turkish government agency, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency).

Donations can be made through the agency's Earthquake Humanitarian Aid Campaign link, which is available at [https://en.afad.gov.tr/campaigns](https://en.afad.gov.tr/campaigns?ref=iqra.ca).

All details and instructions are provided on the website, and Tokmak encourages anyone who is able to contribute to do so in whatever way they can.

"It's heartening to see Canadian Muslim communities banding together to provide support to those in need, both through physical supplies and donations."

As Tokmak noted, "Donations are very crucial," and they will undoubtedly make a significant impact on those affected by the earthquake.

The resilience and generosity of these communities are a testament to the power of coming together in times of crisis to help those in need.
