Maduba Ahmad awarded Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

Her Honour the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, made presentation on January 1, 2022, to three recipients of the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers (SMV), including Mississauga’s Maduba Ahmad

The medal recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields and pays tribute to the dedication and commitment of volunteers. They embody the caring country we aspire to build.

Citation: For over a decade, Maduba Ahmad has been serving her faith community in leadership roles with several organizations, including Parliament of the World’s Religions and MuslimFest. Her volunteer work has had a positive impact on youth morale and has contributed to improved budgeting and finances, as well as increased community involvement and attendance.

Welcome Baby Ahmad

North York General Hospital (NYGH) welcomed the first baby of 2022 in North York. Born at 12:26 a.m., and weighing 4lbs 15oz baby, boy Ahmad Khan was welcomed by proud parents Lubna Khan (mother) and Aman Khan (father).

Ahmad joins the family to two older siblings Haniyah (older sister) and Omar (older brother), who were also born at NYGH.

Mosque donates $32K to Scarborough Hospital

Scarborough Muslim Association (Jame Abu Bakr Siddique) presented a cheque of $32,000 to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation on Friday, December 31st. The funds were raised by students at the mosque to support the hospitals.
