# Fast Against Hunger Campaign set for April 23

[Project Ramadan](https://projectramadan.com/?ref=iqra.ca) is inviting Canadians to come together and fast alongside Muslims on April 23rd to show support for those individuals who face food insecurities on a regular basis.

The [Fast Against Hunger](https://projectramadan.com/fast-against-hunger/?ref=iqra.ca) campaign is an initiative created by Project Ramadan in response to the hunger crisis facing Canadians.

“We are committed to combating food insecurity in our community. Each bag provides a food basket filled with healthy, staple grocery items to feed a family in need for 1 month. Items include flour, dates, sugar, oil, lentils, chickpeas, pasta sauce, kidney beans, salt, rice, tea, tuna, honey, pasta, chicken, and this year PPE (masks and hand sanitizer),” said Project Ramadan.

Every Ramadan, the volunteer group creates food packages for families in need, irrespective of religion, in Toronto and surrounding areas.

“We believe that our community is always stronger together, and that access to food is a basic human right, not a privilege,” says the group. “Your donation goes towards Project Ramadan’s food basket program to help support families in our local community. For every $60 donated you help feed a family for up to 1 month,” said Project Ramadan.

“Project Ramadan’s mission is to fundraise, assemble, and distribute baskets containing staple food items to families faced with food insecurity. Our goal is to help limit the number of families that are experiencing food scarcity by providing them staple food items that should last them approximately one month.”
