“The Role of Faith Communities in Fostering Unity During the Pandemic”

The pandemic has often brought out the best in Canadians, but it has also exposed and exacerbated fault lines in our society. February saw heated and sometimes bitter protests and counter-protests across our country. What is the role of faith communities in healing these divisions and fostering social cohesion and Canadian unity? How can religious institutions help us hear one another, understand one another, and respect one another even where we disagree? How will the ethics, callings, and tools of faith provide a means for Canadians to build empathy and common ground amidst many perspectives?

Moderator: Sheba Birhanu (Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs)

Speakers:

• John Longhurst (Winnipeg Free Press)
• Dr. Joanne Langley (Professor, Dalhousie University; co-Chair, COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force)
