Mississauga celebrates Ramadan with open air Iftar

Residents of Mississauga and Peel region celebrated Ramadan with an open air communal iftar event at Mississauga Celebration Square on Tuesday, June 5th.

Despite the chilly temperatures, thousands of residents attended the ‘Celebrate Ramadan Iftar & Grand Eid Bazaar 2018’ organized by DawaNet and MuslimFest and shared in an iftar and dinner.

Several nonprofit organizations, interfaith communities, local leaders and dignitaries were in attendance and addressed the audience. The event included an Eid bazaar and children’s rides.

“Our second annual Celebrate Ramadan Iftar is an initiative aimed at bringing together influential members of the Mississauga community and Peel region for a unique evening dinner,” said the organizers, DawaNet and MuslimFest.

“Our Celebrate Ramadan Iftar is an inspirational gathering to honour Canadian and Muslim values of inclusivity, tolerance, and diversity. Holding this dinner during the Islamic Holy month of Ramadan signifies coming together as a unified community to exchange greetings and share positive experiences.”
