# Islamic Society of North America becomes world's first Muslim institution to divest

The global divestment movement received a boost today with the announcement the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) plans to become the world’s first Muslim institution to divest from fossil fuels.

ISNA has promised to divest all its investments from fossil fuels and said it will be encouraging its two constituent organisations, and five national affiliated institutions, to do so as well.
