# IDRF launches Alberta Fires Emergency Relief

The catastrophic wildfire that has destroyed 1,600 homes and buildings in Fort McMurray, Alta., has now consumed more than 10,000 hectares, and has forced all 80,000 residents of Fort McMurray to evacuate, the largest evacuation in Alberta’s history.

As the fire rages across Fort McMurray, the Canadian relief agency, IDRF, through its Calgary Chapter, has quickly galvanized action to help their affected neighbours.
