Scarboro Missions interfaith series on Islam

In February, Scarboro Missions invited Muslim leaders to the church to provide an introduction to Islam.

The four-evening educational series focused on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him), the origins of Islam, the Holy Qur’an, the Five Pillars and Islam as a way of life.

Scarboro Missions is a Society of Canadian Catholics, priests and laity that was founded in 1918 by Fr. John Mary Fraser to train and send priests to China. Today, Scarboro Missions is a society whose members serve not only in China, but elsewhere in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Canada.

Scarboro Missions TV recorded the series titled, Interfaith Lecture Series: Understanding Islam, and it is presented below.

The Prophet Muhammad & The Origins of Islam by Shaykh Imran Ally, Imam of the TARIC Islamic Centre (Toronto); Muslim chaplain for University of Toronto ( Mississauga ) and Peel Police.

Living the Message of the Qur’an by Dr. Katherine Bullock, President, The Tessellate Institute; President, Compass Books; Lecturer, the University of Toronto. She accepted Islam in 1994.

The Five Pillars & Six Principles of Islam by Imam Dr. Hamid Slimi, President and Founder of the Faith of Life network; Imam of Sayeda Khadija Centre; Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams; TV Host and Presenter.

Islam as a Way of Life by Shaykh Yusuf Badat, Imam of the Islamic Foundation of Toronto (Scarborough); Professor of Islamic & Arabic Studies.
